PEANUT
(Scholastic Press, 2007)
Poor
Mildred is very lonely...until she gets a new pet! She names him Peanut
and decides he's a dog. There's a problem, though: Peanut isn't like
all the other dogs. He doesn't roll over. He never fetches. And his
nose is much, much, bigger than that of a poodle, terrier, or pug.
Perhaps there's more to Peanut than meets Mildred's eye...
Linas Alsenas's Peanut is a charming story about companionship that will delight readers of all ages.

-- Parenting magazine, 2007 Book of the Year for Ages 2-4

sheer absurdity of this silly story will tickle kids and parents...A
fun read aloud for first graders who will like the obvious upside down
humor here. A great story starter for 2nd and 3rd graders."

"The simple, bright illustrations and spare text work together to create humor even the youngest children will get."
-- Library Media Connection, starred review

is able to tell a complete, humorous and touching story with an economy
